Good morning! This morning I am thinking about the people in my life who have been influential in helping me grow in my relationship with God. People like my wife, parents, siblings, pastors, coaches, teachers, professors, and others that have spent time pouring into my life. They have corrected me, challenged me, inspired me, encouraged me, and have held me accountable.

God has placed people like this in our lives at just the right time and place to help us grow in our relationship with Him. People who have experienced different situations in life that we are currently walking through to shine biblical principles on how to walk through them. There have been interactions with specific people that have stuck with me through the years and continue to guide me to make decisions based on God’s Word.

The truth is, I do not have all the answers, and although God has given us His Word, and the Holy Spirit to guide us and bring His Word to life; God also uses certain people in our lives to keep us going when we are discouraged, keep us on track when we start to wander off, and keep us focused on Jesus by sharing stories about what He has done in their lives!

The apostle Paul, reflecting on his ministry to the Thessalonians, he told them how much he loved them and was not only delighted to share the gospel with them, but their lives as well! He didn’t just correct, challenge, teach, and encourage them – he lived life with them!

“For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.”

1 Thessalonians 2:11-13

I have a couple questions for you today. Who are you currently doing life with? Do you have someone in your life that is helping you grow in your relationship with God? Is there someone you can turn to for Godly wisdom and biblical principles to walk through different situations?

We cannot be lone wolves – we need to make ourselves vulnerable to one another for accountability, support, encouragement, and inspiration! I am here to do life with all of you!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the people that You have placed in our lives to help us grow!  Help us not to be too prideful to learn from others mistakes, take correction, and make ourselves accountable to a close friend or mentor! Thank You for using other people to keep me growing in relationship with You! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
