Good morning! This morning I am reminded that God is always with me and because of this truth I have nothing to fear! I know, this is much easier said than done. Life can throw some unbearable things our way but I want to encourage you with God’s Word.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1-2
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 16:8
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.”
Psalm 46:1-2
When the storms of this life are raging, it’s hard to focus on anything else. All we can see are the problems or the potential for problems. We can’t make sense of why things are happening or how they could get any better. It’s often in moments like this that it becomes easy for people to take their eyes off of Jesus – the very one who has everything we need.
“Then He got into the boat and His disciples followed Him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. BUT JESUS WAS SLEEPING. The disciples went and woke Him, saying, Lord, save us! We’re going to drown! He replied, You of little faith, why are you so afraid? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”
Matthew 8:23-26
Jesus’s disciples were afraid they were going to drown, but Jesus was sleeping. This really speaks to the peace we can experience in all circumstances when we walk in obedience and trust God. The disciples were with Jesus everyday, in person, and yet still experienced doubt and fear, but Jesus constantly relying on His Father, was calling them to trust Him – put their faith in Him!
Whatever life throws at you today, know that God is with you! You can trust Him – He wants you to trust Him! He is a God of miracles and there is nothing He can’t do!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Presence in our lives! Thank you for the example You have provided for us on how to live in this world relying not on our own strength and abilities – but on Yours! You have never failed and You never will! I pray that we would recognize Your Presence in all circumstances and experience the peace that passes all understanding through confidence in who You are – Almighty God! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
