Good morning! Have you ever read the Bible and didn’t fully understand how God could ask things of people that seemed unreasonable? I’m talking about asking Noah to build an ark – did he even know how to? Or Abraham leaving one place to go to another that would be revealed to him at a later time – having to bring his family and all his belongings?!
There is a portion of scripture that always brings me back to a time where God answered a question I had concerning His Word. I was reading through the specific requirements from God for how the tabernacle and all of its components were to be built.
If you have never read this portion of scripture, it’s very detailed. And I remember reading through it feeling very frustrated and confused – wondering how God could ever expect the Israelites to be so skilled in wood working, fabric work, gem work, embroidering, etc… I felt like the standard was beyond their capabilities.
And then God said – You’re right! The truth is… it was beyond their capabilities – but not God’s! In Exodus 31:1-6, God answered my question.
“Then the Lord said to Moses, See I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you.”
WOW! I had to ask God for His forgiveness for doubting Him. He always has a plan! Be encouraged today that whatever God calls you to do, He will supply everything you need to complete His work! I often pray that God would give me wisdom beyond my comprehension, because then I will know it is Him working through me! I never want to take credit for what God does in and through me!
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding us today that You are ALL that we need! We don’t have to worry about the details, because You already have them figured out! We need to be obedient, willing, and available! Not only did You give Bezalel the wisdom, knowledge, and abilities he needed, You gave him a helper. And then You went even further and provided skilled workers! Thank You for the Helper that You have provided for us – Your Holy Spirit! Help us to have the courage to go where You lead us and do what You want in Your time! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
