Good morning! How many of us would follow the leading of the Holy Spirit if we were told ahead of time that we would be facing prison and hardships? There are many people that think when you follow God, life should be perfect. Almost as if God owes you because of your obedience?!?
This is crazy! The Word of God is very clear.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
Don’t get me wrong, God will always be your provider, healer, peace, strength, and the list could go on and on! Those are just a few examples of who He is!
And God has promised to always be with us! We never have to go through difficult times alone!
“And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
Acts 20:22-24
Paul was compelled by the Spirit to go to a place where he knew he would experience hardship. But his life was not his own – he was completely surrendered to completing the task God had given him – preaching the good news!!
WOW! I am challenged this morning to not worry about my comforts or desires but to follow the leading of the Spirit – no matter where it takes me!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word! Thank you for Your Spirit! Help us to seek Your will and surrender our hearts to You each day! Challenge us to lay our selfishness before you and lead us by Your Spirit to share the good news with those around us!! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
