Good morning! Happy Independence Day! It’s America’s birthday! What a blessing it is to live in this country! It is so important for us to be praying for the people who serve in government positions to honor God in the decisions they make that have an effect on so many people.
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
1 Timothy 2:1-2
I am thankful to live in a nation where I can still freely proclaim my faith in Jesus! The only way for this nation to prosper is to turn our hearts back to Jesus.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
This is an encouraging verse but it doesn’t come without a challenge – to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways. It really requires a deep dependance on God and faith in what He can do! It requires us to turn off the television, put down our phone, go into our room, close the door, and get on our knees before God!
Heavenly Father, we love you! Help us pray for those in authority over us, knowing that all authority has been established by You! We pray for our nation today! We pray that Your Holy Spirit would teach us what it means to be completely dependent on You! Help us to believe You for greater things in our lives, in our families, in our churches, in our communities, and in our nation! Help us to get on our knees before you and trust you! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
