Good morning! This morning I want to tell you about something I get to do within the next month that I am so excited about! This is something that you probably won’t be expecting for me to say, but… I am so excited to go to the dentist!
My appointment is coming up for my next cleaning and I cannot wait to go! Is it because I like getting my teeth cleaned? A little. At least I shouldn’t have to get x-rays taken – those are the worst! The main reason I can’t wait to go is because I LOVE my actual dentist and hygienist. They are two of the nicest people who make you feel like part of their family when you go in. They care about me as a person and not just as a patient.
When someone cares about you in this way, we are able to walk through some pretty difficult situations that are necessary if we want to see growth. I used to hate going to the dentist because let’s face it, more times than not it is a painful experience. But even with all of the work I have had done to my teeth within the last several years, I still enjoy going to see my friends!
The same is true when it comes our relationships with others. God wants us to be a light in this world.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
This is one of the best ways that we can show the hurting world around us who Jesus is – by living in a way that resembles the transforming work that He has done in us!
Let’s ask ourselves a question this morning… How are we living like Jesus in the relationships we have with each other?
Do people look forward to seeing us because of how we make them feel? Do we show genuine love and care for others? Do others see Jesus in us?
“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children
Ephesians 5:1-2
and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Heavenly Father, thank You for how You love us! Thank You for setting the example for us on how we should treat each other. Help us to live for You in every moment so that others can see You in us! We want to be a light in the darkness to brighten the lives of the people around us! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
