Good morning! As I get ready for the day, I was thinking about the different roles I play in different places.

Last week, I put on my VBS (Vacation Bible School) T-Shirt as I sat at the registration table welcoming people to the BEST event of the Summer!

On Saturday, I put on the new hat that Mer and Josh got me at Josh’s baseball camp and I cheered on Josh’s baseball team – I LOVE watching my boy have fun!

Today, I put on my shirt for work and head into the office to work with some of the best people I know!

Even though I wear different shirts (or hats) and I may play different roles, it doesn’t change who I am. I am the same person at church, that I am at the baseball field, at my job, and at my home!

Some of us may know people that tend to act one way with a certain group of people and a totally different way with others. Some of us may have even done that ourselves. Some of us may be doing that currently.

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 6:1

It is so important in our relationship with God to be true to ourselves and true to who He has created us to be. Whether we are with our church family, our friends, our coworkers, our classmates, or by ourselves, we should always do our best to be who God created us to be.

It is so much work to try to do it any other way. To have to remember the person we need to be when we are around certain people will only put unnecessary pressure on ourselves and will begin to create confusion in our minds to who we really are.

“For the grace of God has appeared… It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”

Titus 2:11-12

I think there is a part within all of us that wants to be liked and accepted by others, but the only thing that matters is that we are ALREADY LOVED AND ACCEPTED BY GOD because of the work of Jesus Christ! This should cause us to live solely for Him!

No matter what shirt, hat, or role we find ourselves in today, let’s do our best to live according to God’s Word and be true to who He created us to be!

Heavenly Father, thank You for these daily reminders to live for You through every day interactions. It is natural for us to want to be accepted by our peers, but it is not worth it if it costs us our integrity. Help us to honor You in every environment we find ourselves in today and influence the people around us to do the same! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
