Good morning! Last night we had a thunderstorm roll through the area that ended up causing Joshua’s baseball game to be rescheduled. We were sitting in the living room together watching Josh play video games when all of a sudden, the power went out!

I wish you could have seen Josh when the power went out. Thankfully the power does not go out often, but this time it happened at the same time as a loud burst of thunder – and he jumped off the couch LOL!

There we were, sitting in the dark. It’s funny what happens when the power goes out… Josh went to get a flash light and it kept going out so he started looking for a cord so he could charge it?!? Then we kindly reminded him that he wouldn’t be able to charge it.

Then when he walked into one of the other rooms, he was about to hit the light switch to turn on the lights – but he remembered, ‘oh yeah, the power is out’.

His phone was at 16%, my computer was on its last part of the battery, my phone battery was low also, and worst of all – we had no wifi LOL! It’s almost like Josh didn’t know what to do with himself.

We couldn’t really go outside because it was pouring so he wanted to take a ride to somewhere that had electric. Mer and I were like, ‘everything is going to be ok, we can just sit here and relax’. He was like oh yeah.

This whole experience made me appreciate the privilege of having a relationship with God. When we spend time in God’s Word and communicating with Him through prayer, He becomes the source of everything we need. It doesn’t matter if it’s a physical, emotional, intellectual, or financial need – nothing is impossible for Him!

But when we neglect spending time with Him and become disconnected, it becomes like our house when the power goes out. We cannot recharge our devices (our lives become drained from relying on ourselves with no where to recharge), we cannot turn on the lights to see where we are going (we begin to lose sight of what’s right and what’s wrong and begin to walk blindly through life), and we find ourselves without wifi (we no longer pay attention to the conviction of the Holy Spirit in our lives to keep us on the narrow path).

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.”

John 15:4

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Romans 8:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of everything we need. Often times we find ourselves thinking we can handle things on our own, only to find ourselves coming back to You! Help us to continually stay connected to You and live according to Your ways! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
