Good morning! One day earlier this week I woke up feeling really discouraged. This is something that I walk through from time to time, always thinking that I’m not being effective for God! I am constantly evaluating myself in my pursuit to do things with excellence – especially when it comes to making an eternal impact on the lives around me!
But this particular day I left the house and started my 15 minute drive to work. I was on the expressway for a couple exits before the cars ahead of me began to slow down to a crawl. Normally, I would try to find another way around the traffic (which is impossible most of the time) but that day I decided to stay the course.
I began to pray for whatever it was blocking the road, not knowing if it was construction or a bad accident. As I was praying, God began to encourage my heart for the next 45 minutes. He reminded me how much He loves me, how much He loves spending time with me, how much He loves my worship, how much He has TRANSFORMED my life, and how much He cares about me!
Traffic is normally not the type of thing I enjoy sitting in, but that day it was exactly what I needed. God knew that I needed some extra time with Him that day and used a traffic jam to do it!
“My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26
In the margin of my bible I wrote, “Don’t be discouraged by how things look and feel at times – God is always with you! Keep trusting, keep seeking – He is Your reward.”
I am thankful for a God who always comes to my aid! When I feel like I’m not enough, He reminds me that I am right! I am not enough – but He is! I get tired, I get discouraged, I lose sight of what He is doing in me – but He NEVER gets tired, discouraged, and always reminds me of who I am because of Him!
Sometimes God will use the least expected things in our lives to bring hope! If you would have told me that I’d enjoy sitting in traffic for 45 minutes on my way to work – I would have told you that you were crazy. But those 45 minutes were the best 45 minutes of my day!

Heavenly Father, open our eyes today to see You at work! Help us to know that You are with us! Thank You for reminding us that we are NOT enough – but You are! Renew our strength today to continue to be Your witnesses to the people around us!
