Good morning! Everywhere I look, I see these once tiny little kids, becoming big kids, teenagers, and yes even adults?! It is so crazy to think that so much time has passed that this could actually be reality! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE every minute of it – watching them grow, mature, and accomplish incredible things.
I’m so thankful to be a part of their story, even if it is a small piece. From my son, to my nieces and nephews, to kids of our friends, these kids are getting SO BIG! Some are beginning school, some are moving into Middle School or High School, others have graduated College or Trade School – they are all at different stages of life, but they ALL continue to grow!
I think that sometimes as we get ‘older’, it is easy to get set in our ways. Kids are so different, they are resilient and adapt to change more willingly than adults. I am no different, I do not happily accept change in my life, but I have learned that resisting it won’t change the fact that it is happening!
No matter what it is that causes us to get set in our ways, God wants us to continue to GROW! Imagine if the kids in our lives never grew up – never took their first steps, said their first word, learned to ride a bike or drive a car?! This is what it is like when we choose to not grow in our relationship with God. We stay as a spiritual ‘baby’ needing to be spoon fed everything rather than growing and learning to spend time with Jesus to live in a way that shines for Him!
“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”
Hebrews 5:12-14
Let’s choose today to take the change that takes place in our lives as an opportunity to adapt and grow! It’s not always going to be easy, but it will bring about a positive growth that will open more doors to spread the Good News with others!
Heavenly Father, thank You first for all the kids (blessings) in our lives and the opportunity You have given us to be a part of their growth! Help us to do the same in our spiritual lives – NEVER stop growing in our relationship with You! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
