Good morning! This morning I am so thankful for a few days off from work this week. It has been too long since I have been to the great state of New Jersey to see my family. Family is one of God’s most precious gifts, but sometimes, due to distance, schedules, or seasons of life, we don’t get to see the ones we love as often as our hearts would like.

It’s easy to become frustrated because of the many responsibilities we have and the minimal amount of time to do the things we actually want to do. But it is important for us to remember that no matter where we find ourselves, God can and WILL use us for His glory if we are surrendered to Him!

The distance often times helps me to appreciate the moments with my family even more! But it still doesn’t make it easy. I have missed out on more things than I would have liked, but when I am there, I am present in each moment!

The apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians from prison, far from his spiritual family, yet he continually wrote expressing his gratitude for them. He didn’t let distance affect his love. Instead, he brought them into his prayers, thanking God for them and finding joy in their relationship, even when they were apart.

“I thank my God every time I remember you.”

    Philippians 1:3

We can do the same. Even when we can’t be face to face, we can be heart to heart. God sees the love we carry, the longing to be close, and the prayers we lift on their behalf. And He honors that love.

So today, pause and thank God for your family. Text them, pray for them, or simply hold them in your heart with gratitude. Love knows no boundaries, and neither does God’s presence.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of our family – immediate, extended, spiritual/church family! They are truly a gift from You! You knew the family we would be a part of before we were even born and the impact they would have in making us who we are today! Help us to constantly pray for one another and express our gratitude for the gift they are! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
