Good morning! This morning I woke up thinking about a pain that I have been experiencing in my knee. I began walking around my neighborhood each morning at the end of June. Because I often push myself harder than I should, the walk quickly turned into a jog.

I was doing great and feeling so good but all of a sudden I started experiencing this pain in one of my knees which basically would not allow me to jog anymore. This past week I have not gone for my morning walk and it has been killing me. I want to continue to build on the momentum that I started but my body is just not allowing it.

Each night I have been icing the knee and resting it each morning hoping to be able to start off slow again and build the necessary strength and muscle to continue long term.

This got me thinking about how similar this scenario is to our daily spiritual journey. There is something we want to do, but we don’t end up doing it because of some other circumstance.

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”

    Romans 7:15

How many can relate to that scripture verse? I know I can! There is a real struggle that takes place within our being that constantly needs to be surrendered to Jesus! It takes daily surrender to live according to the Word of God!

“For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.”

    Romans 7:22-23

When you are mistreated by someone else, you will naturally be inclined to get even, or get revenge. But a life surrendered to God will seek out reconciliation through love and forgiveness.

Let’s choose today to surrender our will and be obedient to God’s will! We won’t be able to do this alone – we need to BE TRANSFORMED by the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead every thought and action.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives! Help us to not give in to the selfish desires of sin, but to instead live our lives surrendered to the Spirit to display His fruit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
