Good morning! Last night I spent an hour looking for two things around my house that I ‘know’ I have. Things that I haven’t used in a while, but things I KNOW I would not have gotten rid of. After searching everywhere in the house, I had to make the decision to stop looking so that I could move on with my life LOL!
While looking for the items, I found myself growing more and more frustrated as the time went on. I also found myself looking in the same locations multiple times to ensure I was not overlooking them.
We all know what will happen next, I will find them as soon as I go out and buy new ones! Isn’t it always the case?! Anyways, enough venting from me!
This got me thinking about how we waste so much time sometimes chasing after the things of this world, before finally surrendering our lives COMPLETELY to Jesus!
We chase after financial security, control of situations, and the ‘perfect’ life, only to find ourselves frustrated when things don’t go our way.
We find ourselves looking in the same ‘locations’ for happiness, stability, and satisfaction, only to find out that Jesus is the source of EVERYTHING we are looking for!
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.”
Philippians 3:7-8
Let’s not find ourselves wasting time chasing after things that are just that… things! If only we would chase after Jesus as hard as we chase after the things of this world (or as hard as I chased after the things that I lost).
When we pursue Jesus in that way, we will find what we are looking for! He will NEVER disappoint, He will NEVER fail, and He will ALWAYS provide whatever we need!
Heavenly Father, thank You for this reminder this morning. Forgive me for not pursuing You in the same way that I pursue the items that I have lost. Thank You for reminding me that You will always satisfy me when I am looking for You! Help us to chase after You and allow You to fulfill our every need! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
