Good morning! I am so thankful for the opportunity to find rest this weekend! This week has been a fun week, but one of those weeks where you go, go, go – get home from work, get back in the car to head to church for Vacation Bible School or the baseball field for Josh’s game, eat dinner at 9:30pm, go to bed late, get up early, and keep doing it until the weekend FINALLY arrives!
I know you can relate! Life tends to be so full sometimes and it’s so important for us to ensure our priorities are placed on the right things. Each day that passes by, I realize how much more precious the gift of time really is. Every smile, every hug, each interaction should never be taken for granted!
Life is such a gift and unfortunately, often times we are stuck on repeat and find ourselves just going through the motions. Today, as I have the opportunity to find rest, I am choosing to thank God for all the good things He has blessed me with! Many times I look back and wonder how I got to where I am today – and where I could have been if different decisions were made at pivotal points in each season.
I am not saying this because I have regrets, God has used each moment to teach me and grow me so that I could become more like Him! As I have grown in my relationship with God, He has taught me to value Him above everything else!
When we place value in spending time with Him, it changes our perspective on everything. When others have hurt us, we can respond with grace and compassion; when we mess up, we can know that He loves us unconditionally and accept His forgiveness; and when things seem to be out of control, we can know who holds our future!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
I encourage each person to spend time reflecting about the goodness of God in your life. Let’s trust Him with the things that are currently weighing us down, and find rest in Him today! Examine the things that have the highest priority in our lives and rearrange them if necessary! Remember, when we put Him first – everything else will yield to Him!
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for rest today! When You created this beautiful world, You set an example of rest for us by resting on the 7th day. Help us to put You first so that everything else is filtered through Your Word. You always work things out for our good and for Your purpose! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
