Good morning! I started this week off by telling you about Josh’s race – remember, the hardest physical thing he has ever done in his life?! Well, before the race, he told me that he really wished I was going to be ‘running’ it with him.

I told him that I wasn’t able to race with him this year at that point because you had to sign up ahead of time, but if he wanted to do it again next year – I’m in! Honestly, I don’t know how long it would have taken me to finish, but knowing that I made a promise to my son, I already began to get ready.

I started by waking up early so I could walk two miles every morning. After about a week – I don’t know what got into me LOL – but I started to jog the last quarter mile. At first, it felt so weird because I haven’t jogged for any kind of distance in a while.

Slowly, I began jogging longer during my ‘walk’ until I started jogging the whole two miles. The plan is to continue building each day so that I am ready to make my son proud and have the ability to encourage him to keep going the whole time!

This slow but steady approach to preparing for the race next year is much like growing in our relationship with God. At first, it may feel weird because we will have to allow God to change our behaviors. We will probably begin to experience a distancing from the people around us who may begin to feel conviction, because we are no longer living for ourselves – but for God.

But as we continue to build momentum in our relationship with God and experience growth, we become more confident in who He created us to be and what He has planned for us to do! We will not worry about what others think because our sole purpose is living to be more like Him!

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

    Philippians 3:13-14

Today is day 30 of this journey and I have seen such growth physically in completing my two miles in the morning. Imagine what we can do when we apply the same principle to our spiritual lives! Don’t let anything stop us from growing – little by little, day by day!

Let’s keep growing, not allowing ourselves to be satisfied with a little bit of Jesus! Continue yielding to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives!

Heavenly Father, thank You for lovingly drawing us into a relationship with You. You are kind, compassionate, and unrelenting in how You love us! Help us no matter where we are on our journey to build momentum by reading Your Word each day and spending time in prayer and worship. Help us to allow You to TRANSFORM the way we live. Let us serve You and each other while we live out the purpose for which we were created! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
