Good morning! The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 is where Jesus encouraged the disciples saying, “Therefore, GO and MAKE disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
If this is something we are going to do, we need to first start with spending time with Jesus! This is not something new that we are talking about – that is one of the main reasons I started writing these devotionals – to encourage and challenge one another to have a DAILY relationship with God.
This morning I want to encourage you from the book of Ephesians. Before we step out of our house this morning we need to be prepared because we do not know what will be thrown at us.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”
Ephesians 6:10
Be strong in who? In the Lord! And in whose mighty power? His mighty power!
Paul encourages the Ephesians (and us) to put on the full armor of God so that we can take a stand against the devil’s schemes.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 6:12
I know this is something that comes up often, but it is so true and necessary – our dependence has to be on God and the Holy Spirit living inside us! One verse I love and try my best to live by is John 3:30 which says, “He must become greater; I must become less.”
As we allow God’s Word to penetrate our lives and transform us more into His likeness, we will experience the ability to stand firm in the Lord and in HIS mighty power!
Heavenly Father, before we do anything today, we recognize our need for You. We seek Your help in everything we do today! Lead us, guide us, and work through us today to accomplish Your will. This morning, we intentionally set aside time to strengthen our relationship with You to be able to stand in Your mighty power! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
