Good morning! There are times in life when we can’t see our own value. We begin to second guess ourselves and other people’s opinions begin to speak louder than what we know to be true.
I have experienced moments of confusion in life when it seems like I’m not accomplishing the big things that I want to for God. Sometimes I doubt that I am even being used at all because of different situations that arise and the way I let my mind wander.
Sometimes we can read into situations and even begin to believe things that are hypothetical and not based on truth. It is in these moments especially that we need to quiet the noise around us and overshadow it with the Word of God.
We cannot look for validation through the people around us. In most cases, the people around us are all looking out for numero uno. If you aren’t doing what they think is best, then you’re not doing it right. We cannot even look for validation in our own thoughts – when we allow the things around us to sway our understanding of how effective we are for God, we will grow discouraged when the people around us do not respond to God in the same way we do.
My question for you this morning is… why do we put so much stock in what others say about us, and very little in what God says about us?!
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
John 8:42-47
The devil is a liar and he will try to use deception to twist the truth. Remember, the one who lives in us is GREATER than he who is in the world! We have to choose to believe what God’s Word says about us!
He says you are loved, you are valuable, you are worth it, you are saved, and you belong to Him! He has created us for a purpose!
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us today to listen to Your voice above all the others – Your’s is the ONLY one that matters! Help us to ready Your Word each day and store it deep within our heart to provide the confidence we need to overcome the doubts when they come. In Jesus Name – AMEN!
