Good morning! Having consistently done this day after day, I can tell you that it is a commitment – I intentionally set aside time each day to ensure I have a post ready for each morning. Some days are easier than others, but I always rely on the Holy Spirit to lead me in what to share.
This morning I am thinking about how consistent our God is.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8
There is no one more consistent. I think about the times I fail as a husband, father, brother, son, pastor, nephew, friend, employee, etc… I am imperfect and more inconsistent than I would like to admit, but we serve a God who is perfectly complete and consistent.
When our focus is being consistent in our relationship with God, every other relationship will benefit. I recently started reading a book called, “What the Bible Says About the Holy Spirit” by Stanley M Horton and want to share a couple sentences that speaks to this point.
“The qualities they [the early church] needed in order to work together and bear testimony by their lives were not ordinary graces, but the fruit of the Spirit. They never supposed that if a person tried hard enough he could live a good life and please God. They knew they needed the constant help of the Spirit.”
It is the Holy Spirit that brings new life, new behaviors, and Godly character. These things cannot be consistently achieved apart from God. He is the One who brings life transformation!
“The Spirit give life; the flesh counts for nothing.”
John 6:63
Let’s not try to “fix” our habits, behaviors, and failures, but focus on relationship with God and He will do the rest!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfectly consistent nature! Help us to recognize our need for You in every situation – whether it seems easy, difficult, or anywhere in between. Thank You for how You bring new life through Your Spirit to enable us to love others, and live lives that bear the testimony of who You are! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
