Good morning! This morning I’m thinking about how important it is to ‘tune’ in as we walk through each day with our Heavenly Father! There are two different points God is speaking to me: Focus and Alignment!

    FOCUS

There are so many things that are competing for our attention. Our family, friends, work, hobbies, social media, and other things are wanting our time. Then there are other things that are putting unnecessary ‘noise’ into our lives that make it difficult to maintain a clear focus on the things of God. The news, television, culture, peer pressure, political and religious ideologies are all trying to make us second guess the truth in God’s Word.

I’m not sure how many people actually listen to the radio anymore, but just like tuning the radio to the correct frequency gets us to what we want to hear, we need to tune our hearts into God’s Word, His voice, and the Holy Spirit. When I used to have a car with the radio that had the tuning knobs, I would have to tune it just right to hear the station clearly. But then when I drove down the road, I often found myself having to re-adjust the tuning because of interference.

In the same way, we may tune our hearts in the morning to hear God’s voice, but then we go to work and His voice becomes less clear because of the interference around us. We need to tune back in and listen for His voice.

“I will listen to what God the Lord says; He promises peace to His people, His faithful servants – but let them not turn to folly.”

    Psalm 85:8

    ALIGNMENT

The second thing on my heart this morning is making sure our heart is aligned with God’s heart and our life is aligned with the truth in God’s Word. When you play the guitar, the first thing you have to do is make sure it is tuned correctly. Each string has to be tuned to a specific note in order for the instrument to bring joy to those who hear it! If the instrument is not tuned correctly, even the untrained ear will notice that something is not right.

In the same way, if we are not tuning our hearts to match the truths in God’s Word, we will not be able to shine bright for those around us! However, when our lives display the very nature and characteristics of our God, the people around us will be drawn to Him!

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

    2 Timothy 2:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for this word this morning. I pray that it calls us to act and be diligent to tune in to what You want to say to us at ALL times! Help us today to do our best to live as an example of who You are! Thank You for Your Spirit who guides us and brings Your Word to life! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
