Good morning! I have experienced a deeper understanding of many aspects of God’s Word because of the relationship I have with Josh! He is such a good boy that works very hard at everything he does: whether it’s baseball, music, school, or video games, he is always giving his best.
This morning I am praying that the Holy Spirit would challenge us to take biblical truths and apply them to our lives. When we do this, not only will our lives be transformed, but also the lives of those around us.
This truth has been revealed with deeper meaning through Josh’s hard work and the preparation he puts into playing his instrument.
When I listen to Joshua play his saxophone, it sounds great – however, I never understood the beauty of the entire piece of music until I went to watch him practice with his entire band. What a difference when each person is masterfully playing their part. The fullness, the beauty, the poise, and the selflessness of one instrument accentuating another to allow it to shine. All the while being directed by the conductor who is following the sheet music of the person who created the piece.
Wow – what a picture of the church, the Body of Christ!
1 – Each person practices their instrument individually: similar to each person investing time and effort into growing in their relationship with God. We can’t be effective as a child of God unless we are spending time with Him each day allowing Him to influence the way we live.
2 – Everyone coming together to play the complete piece: similar to working together with other believers to live out our relationship with God using the specific God-given gifts and allowing others to use their’s and shine! It’s important that we don’t try to play someone else’s part – just be ourselves, it’s who God created us to be!
3 – Being led by the conductor: similar to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives following the Word provided by our Creator! There is no better person we can follow, than to be led by the Holy Spirit!
I hope this challenges you to put in the effort individually to GROW! Similar to the band illustration, the body of Christ functions best when everyone is giving their BEST! And… don’t miss the fact that we are not playing random parts, we are playing the parts provided to us by the Creator!
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful illustration this morning! Help us to choose today to diligently, intentionally, and relentlessly, seek to understand Your Word each day! To know it and allow it to transform us! Help us to discover the gifts that You have given to each one of us so that we can use them to help draw others to You! Most importantly, help us to surrender the part we want to play for the one You want us and have created us to play! Bless our time together this morning! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
