Good morning! This morning I’m reminded of the importance of slowing down to appreciate all that God has done and is doing in our lives. I spend time with God everyday – reading His Word, conversing with Him in prayer, worshipping Him through music, and doing my best to offer myself as a living sacrifice. But I still find myself from time to time wondering what He is doing in my life.

There are still unanswered prayers, family members that have not accepted Jesus as Lord, life doesn’t always go the way I expect it to, and no matter what I do it never seems like I can get ahead. These are just a few things that have gone through my mind at one time or another – but it may be other things for you.

Whatever it is for you, it is so important to take a step back and look at the big picture to gain a different perspective. We need to slow down from the hustle and bustle of life to be able to see the hand of God on our lives.

When you are driving in a car going 65mph, it is hard to take in the scenery that you are passing by. Honestly, everything close to you is a blur because you are going so fast trying to get to your destination. But the problem is, you don’t have an opportunity to see the value in things you pass by during the journey.

“I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

    Psalm 77:12

How can we recognize what God has done unless we stop moving so fast from point A to point B and learn to slow down and look for God in every circumstance?

I know that if this is not something you do on the regular, you will be pleasantly surprised at how God has worked in your life without you even being able to recognize Him. This will allow you to appreciate Him more, trust Him more, rely on Him more, and recognize Him more!

Today, I challenge you to set aside 10 minutes to set a timer and think about your life. Think about this week, last month, last year, and beyond. Think about the things you have prayed for, the things you have longed for, and the blessings you didn’t recognize at the time. Like Psalm 77 says, let’s consider all the works of God. When you are done, praise Him, thank Him, and worship Him!

Heavenly Father, thank You so much for sustaining us! Help us to slow down today to appreciate all that You have done. To recognize the moments that we missed what You were doing, but are now thankful for what You did! Help us learn to appreciate the journey as you bring us from one place to another. Let the things we think about today be a catalyst for growing deeper in our love for You! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
